Indian Students Deaths: The mystery of the death of Indian students in America deepens, investigating agencies made different revelations in Sameer Kamath case.

An Indian student pursuing his doctorate at the prestigious Purdue University, located in the state of Indiana, was found dead this week. In this case, officials said that the student committed suicide by shooting himself. He has been shot in the head. According to a Purdue University news agency, Sameer Kamath was found dead at around 5 pm on February 5.

His body was found on the University’s NICHES Land Trust in Crow Grove, a nature preserve. Warren County Coroner Justin Brummett said Wednesday that Kamath’s forensic autopsy was performed on February 6 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Brummett’s office issued a press release saying Kamath died of a gunshot wound to the head. This is a case of suicide. He has shot himself. However, a report is yet to come out in this matter.

The release said, “The investigation was conducted in collaboration with multiple other local and federal agencies. This resulted in a clear cause of death. Kamath’s family was informed about the cause of death before the information was made public. Investigation “The investigation is being conducted in conjunction with the Warren County Coroner’s Office, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Purdue University administration and other supporting agencies.”

“Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to the family,” Brummett said.

A report in The Purdue Exponent stated that Kamath was a doctoral candidate in mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineering major Eckhard Groll said in an email to the ME community that Kamath was from Massachusetts, the report said.

“He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and came to Purdue in the summer of 2021,” the Purdue Exponent reports. Kamath was scheduled to graduate from his doctoral degree in 2025, according to his LinkedIn profile, the report said. Kamath’s death is the latest in a series of tragic incidents among students of Indian origin and India in the US.

Last month another Purdue student, Neal Acharya (19 years old), was reported missing. He was later found dead on the Purdue University West Lafayette campus. Acharya was an American citizen. Officials have said that no trauma or significant injuries were found during the autopsy on Acharya and no foul play is suspected at this time.

At the same time, last month in Georgia, 25-year-old Indian student Vivek Saini was beaten to death by a homeless drug addict. Earlier this month, another Indian student, Syed Mazahir Ali, was chased and brutally attacked by three unidentified men in Chicago. Ali was a resident of Hyderabad and was pursuing his master’s degree in Information Technology in Chicago.
