‘America should stop the supply of arms to Israel’, European Union angry after the attack on Rafah
After the attack on Rafah city, pressure has started coming on Israel from all over the world. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has demanded that Israel’s allies, especially the US, stop supplying arms to Israel. Borrell said that a large number of people are being killed in Gaza. Just last week, US President Joe Biden had said that Israel’s military action has reached its peak. Citing Biden’s statement, Borrell said that if you think that people are being killed then you should give weapons in less quantity so that many people can be saved from dying.
Borrell asked whether the leader of any major country expressed concern over the killing of people?
Speaking to the media in Brussels, Borrell said that it is not logical for America to express concern over war and continue supplying weapons to Israel. Borrell said that ‘how many times have leaders and foreign ministers of major countries expressed concern over the deaths of people. If the international community feels that genocide is taking place and large numbers of people are being killed then perhaps we need to think about weapons. Israel has started attacks in Rafah, Gaza. After the attack on Gaza, a large number of people reached Rafa and took shelter there. Now, after Israel’s attack in Rafah, serious questions have been raised regarding the safety of refugees. Borrell asked whether now Israel’s PM will also evacuate Rafah? Where will they send people now? on the moon?
Israel had accused UNRWA
During this, United Nations UNRWA chief Philip Lazzarini was also present. Israel had recently alleged that UNRWA people were also involved in the attack on Israel on October 7. Israel had demanded a ban on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). After Israel’s allegations, many countries had announced to stop funding of UNRWA.
