Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi held a meeting with the Tourism Department on Wednesday at the Secretariat regarding strengthening the facilities and connectivity for the tourists visiting Adi Kailash. It was informed in the meeting that as per the vision of the Honorable Prime Minister, the Tourism Department is starting heli services for visiting the holy religious places of Adi Kailash or Chhota Kailash, Om Parvat, Parvati Sarovar located in Dharchula area of ​​Pithoragarh district. There is a plan to allow tourists to visit Adi Kailash and Om Parvat from Jaulingkong and Nabidhang.

Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi said that due to extreme cold and harsh weather in the higher Himalayan regions, the citizens here are forced to migrate to the lower areas for livelihood as they do not have any business activities during the six months of winter. However, due to this area being very important from the strategic point of view, religious tourism and adventure tourism, on the one hand, by promoting winter tourism in this area, the presence of citizens in this area throughout the year not only from the strategic point of view, but on the other hand, By creating a new winter tourism destination and product center, it can become a major source of revenue generation and provide employment resources to the local citizens.

It was informed in the meeting that it is proposed to operate the heli services initially for six months and after comprehensive testing of the travel operations, this scheme can be operated regularly for the passengers/tourists in future. The Chief Secretary has instructed the Tourism Department to work seriously and promptly on the action plan to develop basic facilities for tourists in the Adi Kailash area.

Secretary Sachin Kurve, Additional Secretary Mrs. Pooja Garbyal and other officials of the Tourism Department were present in the meeting.
