Himachal Pradesh: Snowfall in Manali including Upper Shimla, 405 roads and 577 power transformers stalled in the state.
The sufferings have increased due to snowfall in the upper areas of Himachal Pradesh. Due to snowfall, four national highways and 405 roads in the state remained closed for traffic till Wednesday evening. Maximum 288 roads are closed in Lahaul-Spiti district. 83 roads are blocked in Chamba district. At the same time, 577 power transformers and 17 drinking water supply schemes are also stalled in the state. On the other hand, the tourist city Manali and surrounding areas have received second snowfall of this winter season and new year.
Electricity supply is closed in 543 villages of Chamba for two days. There was snowfall in Manali city and surrounding areas on Tuesday night. The city received about four centimeters of snowfall, while Dhungri, Nasogi, Old Manali received five to seven centimeters of snowfall. Apart from this, there has been 80 cm snowfall in Solangnala, 150 cm snowfall in South Portal of Atal Tunnel, 210 cm snowfall in Rohtang Pass and 25 cm snowfall in Jalodi Pass. After the weather opened on Wednesday, snow removal work has started. At present tourist vehicles are being sent to Nehru Kund. At the same time, many upper areas of Shimla district also received rain and snowfall on Wednesday. Rain and snowfall have been recorded in Tharoch, Shilla and many other areas of Chaupal. There was sunshine and light clouds throughout the day in the capital Shimla.
How will the weather be in the coming days?
Even today, a yellow alert has been issued by Meteorological Center Shimla for thunderstorm and hailstorm in some parts of the state. The weather is likely to remain bad in some parts of the high mountains till February 25. On the other hand, a fresh western disturbance is likely to become active from the night of 24th February. Due to its effect, rain and snowfall is predicted again in the state on 26th and 27th February.

Kothi 30.0, Keylong 18.0, Kukumseri (Lahaul-Spiti) 15.3, Bharmour 8.0, Teesa 2.0 and Kalpa 0.9 centimeter snowfall have been recorded. After the latest snowfall, the wheels of vehicles remained stuck on NH-305 in Jalodi Jot for the second day. Due to traffic jam, Outer Siraj is cut off from its district headquarters Kullu.

One foot fresh snowfall in Churah’s Tepa
In Tepa, the highest village of Churah sub-division, villagers were forced to hide in their homes due to torrential rains and snowfall of up to one foot late on Tuesday night. The increased cold after snowfall has increased the sufferings of the people. It may take 10 days to restore the Chamba-Tisa road for movement of heavy vehicles.
