After UAE, now Canada has given a shock to India, the concern of Indians living in both the countries has increased

The hopes of people who want to live or work in Canada have suffered a major setback. The current government there has announced to reduce the number of temporary residents coming to Canada. The country’s Immigration Minister Mark Miller says that he is going to reduce the number of temporary residents from 6.2 percent to 5 percent.

Addressing a press conference in the capital Ottawa on Thursday (March 21, 2024), Employment Minister Randy Boissonnot said that our government is working towards reducing temporary foreign workers from 30 per cent to 20 per cent, except for some sectors like agriculture.

In recent times, the population of Canada has increased very rapidly. The main reason behind this is being said to be the population of temporary residents. Temporary residents include those who come to Canada as workers for studies or in search of employment.

The current government says that due to the increase in the population of temporary residents, there is a shortage of services like adequate housing and healthcare in the country. Currently, about 2.5 million temporary residents live in Canada. This includes the highest number of refugees, students and workers. According to the Indian Express, in the year 2023, about 26,495 people from India reached Canada as temporary foreign workers. Currently, there are about 2.5 million temporary residents in Canada, which is 6.2 percent of the total population there. Before Canada, UAE has given a shock to India Recently, the United Arab Emirates has announced its new visa exemption policy. During this, the UAE said that citizens of 87 countries will not need a pre-entry visa for entry. The special thing is that despite India’s good relations with the UAE, India’s name is missing from this list.
