‘Galwan like’ situation in China and Philippines, Jaishankar came openly against dragon’s bullying
The situation between the Philippines and China has become very tense these days. China is continuously blocking the passage of Philippine ships in the South China Sea and attacking them with water cannons. This is similar to the way China attacked Indian soldiers in Galwan. Meanwhile, India has openly supported the Philippines against China’s bullying. Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday said India strongly supports the Southeast Asian country in maintaining its national sovereignty amid the Philippines’ dispute with China in the South China Sea. Earlier, India had announced that it would deliver BrahMos supersonic missile to the Philippines within a few days. Philippines has purchased these missiles to deal with China’s bullying.
Jaishankar said at a press conference here that he had a very good conversation with Philippine Foreign Minister Enrique Manalo in Manila. Jaishankar said, ‘I strongly reiterate India’s support to the Philippines in maintaining its national sovereignty.’ He said that with the changing world it is necessary that India and the Philippines cooperate more closely in shaping the emerging models . On a question, the Foreign Minister said that every country has the right to maintain its national sovereignty. He said, ‘We have also discussed this.’ Jaishankar said that recently there has been a very significant growth in bilateral relations between India and the Philippines.
Indian ship reaches Philippines
Meanwhile, the special pollution control vessel ‘Samudra Pehredar’ of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has reached Manila Bay in the Philippines as part of its deployment in ASEAN countries. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. They said that this vessel is equipped with special marine pollution control equipment and a Chetak helicopter. It is designed to prevent oil spills into the sea, recover spilled oil and carry out pollution control operations. The ICG ship arrived Manila Bay on March 25 on a three-day visit.

“The visit of the special pollution control vessels is part of a broader initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) besides enhancing the ICG’s capabilities in controlling marine pollution,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement here. “To demonstrate and express shared concern and determination against marine pollution in the ASEAN region.”
Indian ship is on ASEAN tour
The ICG ship is on overseas deployment to ASEAN countries – Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei from 25 March to 12 April. Officials said the ship also has 25 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets who will participate in the ‘Punit Sagar Abhiyan’, a Government of India initiative. The ministry said, ‘This visit is important to strengthen bilateral relations with key maritime agencies including the Philippine Coast Guard, Vietnam Coast Guard and Brunei Maritime Agencies.’ It added, ‘This is the third visit by the Indian Coast Guard to ASEAN countries. Is deployed. Earlier in the year 2023, ICG pollution control vessels had visited Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia under this initiative.
