BJP leader Dilip Ghosh’s troubles increase, FIR registered in case of controversial remarks on Mamata Banerjee

An FIR has been registered against BJP MP Dilim Ghosh in Durgapur, West Bengal for his derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The development came hours after Ghosh apologized for his remarks on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued a show cause notice to Dilip Ghosh for his comments and asked him to reply by March 29. In a video viral on social media, former BJP president Dilip Paush was criticized on the ethnic background of Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee. Can be heard commenting.
Commenting on Mamata Banerjee, Dilip Ghosh had said, ‘When Didi goes to Goa, she becomes Gotcha’s daughter, in Tripura, she says I am the daughter of Tripura. Decide who is your father. That’s right. Not there. Dilip Ghosh’s comment was in reference to the Trinamool Congress’s election slogan ‘Bangla Nijer Merokerd Charon (Bengal wants its own daughter)’ in the 2021 Bengal Assembly elections. Trinamool Congress had filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding Dilip Ghosh’s remarks. The Election Commission termed the BJP leader’s comment as derogatory and prima facie considered it a violation of the model code of conduct.
Election Commission issued notice to Dilip Ghosh
The Election Commission reminded Madinapur Lok Sabha MP Dilip Ghosh of the provisions of the model code of conduct, which states that whenever criticism of other political parties is made, it will be limited to their policies and programmes, past record and work. Personal remarks against any candidate, leader or party chief would be a violation of the election code of conduct, BJP has also issued a notice to Dilip Ghosh, terming his comments against Mamata Banerjee as unnecessary and objectionable.
BJP also called Ghosh’s statement objectionable
Soon after the controversy over his remarks escalated, Dilip Ghosh expressed regret and admitted that both his party and the general public had objections to his choice of words.
He said, ‘If it is so, then I am sorry for it’ Former state BJP leader Athaksh Ghosh clarified that he has no personal animosity towards the Chief Minister. He said, ‘This is not the first time that controversy has arisen over my comments. Because I speak out against anyone who does wrong’, he defended his statements as a response to Banerjee’s political rhetoric.
