Voting decreased compared to 2019 and voting boycott increased in the state… Know district wise figures

This time, compared to 2019, the voting percentage has fallen and an increase in voting boycott has been recorded in the state. While in 2019, elections were boycotted at 10 places, this time this figure has crossed 25.

How much boycott in which district?
Dehradun: Villagers of 12 villages of Dwar and Bishlad Khat in Chakrata area did not vote. There was silence at six polling stations from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm. Tehsildar and ADO Panchayat reached the village to convince the villagers, but could not find the villagers. Only two polling personnel voted at the polling station Mindal. Due to non-repair of Danwa Bridge-Kharsi motor road, 12 villages Mindal, Khanad, Kurad, Sichad, Manjgaon, Samog, Thanata, Jogio, Banyana, Senjad, Sanau, Tawara etc. boycotted. In Mussoorie too, only a few votes were cast at about seven polling stations.

Chamoli: Villagers of eight villages in Chamoli district kept distance from voting. Only one villager cast his vote in Irani village of Nijmula valley. Villagers did not vote in Pana, Ganai, Devrada, Sakand, Pandav, Pinai and Balan villages. Villagers of Sankad of Karnaprayag, Padav of Adibadri, Manoor of Narayanbagad and Bedgaon remained away from voting. Complete boycott of voting in Deorada of Tharali and Balad of Dewal.

Pauri: Voters did not come out to cast their votes in the polling station Chad of Pabau development block. On getting information about this, the Election Department team immediately reached the village and appealed to the villagers to cast their votes. Despite much effort, only 13 villagers voted, out of which two votes were cast by employees. There are a total of 308 voters in Chad Malla and Talla villages.

Pithoragarh: Voting was boycotted at three booths here in Dharchula. Efforts were made to persuade till late evening but the election team failed.

Villagers angry over not getting basic facilities
Angered by the lack of basic facilities in four districts of the state, villagers have boycotted voting. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said, a road has been approved in Chamoli, but due to the code of conduct the work could not start. Despite this the villagers were not ready to vote. Similarly, in Chakrata, Mussoorie, Pithoragarh also people boycotted voting in protest against the facilities of roads, water etc.
