Russia-Ukraine War: ‘Russia is spreading propaganda against the President of Ukraine’, claims US intelligence agency

The US intelligence agency said that it has started propaganda against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. They have also questioned his legitimacy. Moscow had started propaganda against Zelensky even before the war began.

Russia and Ukraine have been at war for months, but Russia began spreading misinformation against Ukraine even before the war began. Disinformation against the Ukrainian president has increased as Ukrainian forces struggle against escalating Russian attacks in northeastern Ukraine. “I would actually link this propaganda effort to our country’s stable and dedicated president Zelenskyy in this conflict,” an official said. US intelligence indicated a withdrawal from the eastern Ukrainian city of Avdiivka. Ukraine postponed a presidential election scheduled for this spring because of the war.

On the other hand, Russians argue that the delay in the elections will raise questions about the legitimacy of Ukraine’s Zelensky. Russia suffered heavy losses of troops in capturing Avdiivka in Ukraine.

Zelensky said that he had ordered the withdrawal to Ukraine to avoid being surrounded and save the lives of his soldiers. As soon as Russia invaded in February 2022, the Ukrainian leader imposed martial law, while the Ukrainian parliament also approved it. It was extended regularly, and this year’s presidential elections were also postponed. He outright rejected Russia’s allegations.
