After US drill, North Korea fired ballistic missiles into the sea, covering a distance of 300 kilometers

North Korea fired several ballistic missiles off its east coast on the second day of joint military exercises involving US and South Korean warplanes. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the weapons, launched from the east coast’s Wonsan region, traveled about 300 kilometers before falling into the sea between the Korean peninsula and Japan.

Two US F-22 aircraft participated

Two South Korean F-35As and two US F-22 aircraft participated in the joint exercise. North Korea has been continuously testing weapons in recent months. Meanwhile, the US and South Korea are also continuously conducting joint exercises in the region.

Observers say North Korea believes its advanced weapons arsenal will give it leverage to extract more concessions from the U.S. if talks resume. Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw another test of a new multiple rocket launch system, according to North Korean state media.
