Uttarakhand: Doon Municipal Corporation preparing for recovery in salary fraud case of 99 sanitation workers, Municipal Commissioner in action

Action can be taken soon in the matter of fraud worth crores of rupees in the appointment of sanitation workers in Doon Municipal Corporation. After completing the investigation into the fraud in the Sanitation Committee, the CDO has submitted the report to the district administration and now this report will soon be sent to the Municipal Commissioner by the district administration. After that, the salaries issued in the names of 99 employees found to be fake in the investigation will be recovered. If recovery is not made, legal action will be taken against them.

Let us tell you that after taking the decision in the third board meeting in the year 2019, cleanliness committee was formed for cleanliness in all the 100 wards of the Municipal Corporation. 8 to 12 sanitation workers were said to be working in the committee formed in each ward and Rs 15,000 each is given to the sanitation committee. In such a situation, the number of sanitation workers in the entire city is around one thousand. Before the tenure of the Municipal Corporation Board ended, the salaries of the sanitation workers were given to the Health Committee. But after the board was dissolved on December 2, an attempt was made to make a new arrangement.

After receiving complaints of irregularities in employees’ salaries and PF etc., it was decided to transfer the salary amount directly to the employees’ accounts. For this, the Municipal Corporation had collected the physical presence, Aadhaar card and bank account number of each employee of the committees. But the Municipal Corporation team found during verification that many of the employees from the list provided earlier were not found on the spot and other people were found working in their place, which made it clear that the salary being given as per the list was given to the wrong person. was going.

After this, Municipal Corporation Administrator Sonika (District Magistrate) handed over the investigation of the case to the CDO. While checking the documents along with physical verification, it was found that there were 99 employees whose names were provided to the Municipal Corporation but they were not present on the spot. The CDO has submitted its investigation report to the Municipal Corporation Administration and the Municipal Corporation Administration will soon submit this report to the Municipal Commissioner. Before the dissolution of the board, only the councilors had the authority to form sanitation committees.

The salary of the employees was transferred on behalf of the Municipal Corporation by opening joint accounts of the councilor, committee chairman and treasurer in his ward. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar has said that the irregularities in the salaries of sanitation workers under the Sanitation Committee were investigated by the CDO. As soon as the investigation report is received by the investigation committee, we will start recovery action. Told that if the money is not deposited after the notice, then legal action will be taken by the Municipal Corporation.

NGT report regarding shifting of garbage disposal plant

At the same time, after the order of NGT, action is being taken to shift the Shishambara garbage disposal plant of Doon Municipal Corporation to one side or to increase the capacity of the plant. During the hearing in NGT, the Municipal Corporation has just presented a report of 185 pages and has told many plans for the future. But NGT told the Municipal Corporation that these schemes have no meaning. The plans presented in the last years have yielded no results.

Let us tell you that Shishambara has the capacity to dispose of 250 tonnes of garbage, but about 450 tonnes of garbage is reaching the Shishambara plant every day from across the city. 200 tonnes of garbage every day is becoming part of the mountain of bagger disposal. Due to which now a mountain of about five lakh tonnes of garbage has formed here.
