Now in UP, details of dowry will have to be given while making marriage certificate, government issued orders

While getting the marriage certificate made in Uttar Pradesh, now the bride and groom will also have to give details of dowry. In this regard, the government has issued instructions to the registration department. According to the information, thousands of applications are made for making marriage certificate. According to the rules, the marriage card, Aadhaar card, high school mark sheet along with documents of two witnesses are also submitted by the bride and groom.

Now, along with them, dowry affidavit has also been made mandatory and a notice for this has also been put up in the office. In this affidavit, details of the dowry given for the marriage will have to be given. According to officer Deepak Srivastava, the government has made it mandatory to submit an affidavit for marriage and everyone has been directed to submit dowry certificate along with the document.

Where is the marriage certificate useful?

• If you want to open a Joint Bank account after marriage, then you will have to submit a marriage certificate.
• Marriage certificate will also be required while applying for passport.
• If you want to get insurance after marriage, then it will be necessary to submit your marriage certificate.
• If the couple wants to apply for a travel visa or permanent residence in any country, then a marriage certificate will have to be submitted.
• If the woman does not want to change her surname after marriage, then without the marriage certificate she will not be able to avail the benefits of government facilities.
• After marriage, marriage certificate is necessary to take a loan from a national bank.
• Marriage certificate will be necessary in any kind of legal matter. For example, if one of the couple cheats and runs away after marriage, then the marriage certificate will be useful to file a complaint.
• Marriage certificate will also be useful for filing divorce application. Single mothers or divorced women have to show divorce documents to get reservation in jobs.

If many years have passed since the marriage, will the registration take place?

Generally, the couple has to apply for marriage registration within 30 days of the marriage. However, the couple can apply for marriage registration for up to 5 years with additional fees. But if more than 5 years have passed since the marriage, then only the concerned District Registrar can give exemption for marriage registration.
