‘These election results are a reality check for overconfident BJP workers’, sharp comment in RSS mouthpiece

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has made a sharp comment on the results of the Lok Sabha elections. RSS has said that these results of the Lok Sabha elections are a reality check for the over-enthusiastic workers and leaders of BJP, who were engrossed in their own world and were immersed in the glamour of the personality of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In this way, the voice of the common people was not able to reach them.

RSS has made this comment in the latest issue of its mouthpiece Organiser. The article in the mouthpiece states that RSS is not the ‘field force’ of BJP. It is clear from these election results that even such experienced volunteers were ignored, who have worked tirelessly without the desire for fame in this era of social media.

RSS member Ratan Sharda has said in this article that the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections have come as a reality check for the over-enthusiastic workers and many leaders of BJP. They did not realize that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan of crossing 400 was a target for them and a challenge for the opposition.

In this election, BJP has got 240 seats, which is less than the majority but NDA managed to get majority with 293 seats. Congress got 99 seats in the election while India Block got 234 seats. Two independents who won in this election supported Congress, after which the number of India Block increased to 236.

Sharda wrote that goals are achieved by hard work in the election field and not by sharing posters or selfies on social media. Because of this, they were engrossed in their own world, celebrating on the basis of Prime Minister Modi’s popularity. In such a situation, they did not listen to the voice of the common people.

Questions raised on joining NCP faction

Unnecessary politics was cited as a reason for BJP’s underperformance in the elections in the mouthpiece of RSS. In this article, it was said that Maharashtra is a prime example of unnecessary politics. The faction of NCP led by Ajit Pawar joined BJP. While BJP and Shiv Sena had a majority. Whereas Sharad Pawar’s influence would have ended in two to three years because the NCP was struggling with internal strife.

The BJP’s performance in Maharashtra was not good as it could win only nine seats compared to the 2019 elections. Shiv Sena led by Shinde got seven seats while NCP led by Ajit Pawar got only one seat.

Without naming any leader, Sharda said that a Congress leader was included in the BJP, who had talked about ‘saffron terror’ and called 26/11 a ‘conspiracy of RSS’ and even called RSS a ‘terrorist organization’. RSS supporters were very hurt by this.

Did RSS campaign for BJP in this election? In response to this question, Sharda said that to say it clearly, RSS is not the field-force of BJP. BJP is the largest party in the world, which has its own workers.

He said that RSS has been working to make people aware on issues of national interest. RSS directly participated in politics only during 1973-1977. This time also it was officially decided that RSS workers will hold small local, mohalla and office level meetings where people will be asked to come out and exercise their franchise.
