Uttarakhand by-election: Voting percentage drops, 68% voting in Mangalore and 51% in Badrinath

Voting percentage has fallen in two assembly by-elections in Uttarakhand. This time the voting percentage has been much lower than the 2022 assembly elections. At the time of writing the news, 68.24 percent voting was recorded in Mangalore and 51.43 percent in Badrinath.
The by-election started on both the assembly seats from 8 am on Wednesday. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that the by-election in both the assemblies has been peaceful. All EVMs started working on time.
By the time of writing the news, the Mangalore assembly by-election was over, but the final figures of voting percentage are yet to come. By late evening, about 68 percent voting was recorded in Mangalore assembly and about 51 percent in Badrinath assembly. In the 2022 assembly elections, 75.95 percent voting was recorded in Mangalore and 65.65 percent in Badrinath.
Badrinath highway closed, 40 polling parties stopped at booths
Due to the closure of Badrinath highway, 40 polling parties could not take EVMs to the strong room after the voting was completed on Wednesday. The Election Commission has stopped them at the polling booths itself. Polling parties will have to walk five km here. Half of this part is adjacent to the forest. SDM Chandrashekhar Vashisht said that they have been stopped here due to the footpath. At the same time, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRCC Purushottam said that all polling parties have been kept safe at the booths itself. All parties will reach Gopeshwar by road by Thursday evening. Let us tell you that even after leaving for voting, polling parties were stuck here.
Now Kedarnath seat is vacant
After the death of Kedarnath MLA Shailarani Rawat, this assembly seat has now become vacant. The seat has become vacant due to the death of the third MLA in this government. Earlier, by-election was held on the seat vacated on the death of Bageshwar MLA Chandan Ramdas. Voting was held on Wednesday for the Mangaluru assembly seat which fell vacant after the death of MLA Sarwat Karim Ansari.
