The Center admitted in the Supreme Court that there was rigging in NEET 2024 but not on a large scale

The Supreme Court is yet to decide whether the NEET 2024 exam will be cancelled or not. However, a report from the Centre has come out regarding the rigging in the NEET 2024 exam.
The Centre has now admitted that there was rigging in NEET 2024 but…
Actually, the Central Government has admitted that there has been rigging in this exam. However, the Centre has also said that this rigging has not happened on a large scale. On Wednesday, the Central Government has told the Supreme Court that there has been no large-scale rigging in the NEET UG exam, so there is no need to conduct the exam again. The Central Government has termed a video of the paper going viral on Telegram as fake. The Centre has made it clear that the counselling of the students who passed the NEET UG exam will start soon and this process will start from the third week of July and it will be conducted in four rounds.
Data of IIT Madras cited
According to the affidavit, the government is ensuring that no guilty candidate gets any benefit. The affidavit states that the data analytics of IIT Madras does not show any major irregularity or large-scale manipulation. It analyses the data of the last two years. The report has not found any evidence of large-scale malpractice or local bias.
The Centre’s report submitted to the Supreme Court states that the distribution of marks follows a normal bell curve and it is not pointing to any irregularity. On analysing the top 1.40 lakh ranks, there was also no indication of malpractice or unfair advantage to specific centres or cities. The affidavit states that the allegation of toppers being from only a few exam centres is baseless. According to this, in the NEET UG case, the top 100 candidates are from 95 centres in 56 cities. In such a situation, the fact of toppers being from only a few exam centres is not correct.
NEET 2024 viral video on Telegram is fake
The affidavit termed the alleged Telegram video on the NEET paper leak case as fake and said that the video was edited to show that it was of May 4. All the members of the Telegram channel were also fake. It also gives information about the system in place to ensure confidential printing, transportation and distribution of question papers.
The Center said that regarding the steps to be taken in future to make the examination process more robust and prevent any kind of malpractice, it has constituted a high-level committee of experts to recommend effective measures to conduct a transparent, smooth and fair examination by the NTA. The affidavit said that the movement of the paper is monitored properly. It is being considered to conduct a computer-based examination in future.
