‘UK tech tycoon’ Mike Lynch missing, wife safe after ship sinks amid storm in Italy

British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, his lawyer and four others are missing after a ship sank amid a storm off the coast of Sicily, Italy, on Monday. Italian officials gave this information. They said that Lynch’s wife and 14 others have been rescued. Salvo Cocina, associated with Sicily’s civil protection agency, said that Lynch, who was acquitted in a major fraud case in the US in June, is among the six people who have not yet been traced. He said that Lynch’s ship sank amid a storm near Porticello.

Accident happened near Palermo

Let us tell you that this accident happened when the 56-meter long luxury superyacht Bayesian was anchored off Porticello, east of Palermo. A sudden storm hit the coast early Monday and devastated the beach clubs as well as small fishing ports. At the same time, 15 people have been rescued after the luxury yacht sank amid strong winds and rain on the Sicily coast. Mike Lynch’s wife is also included among these 15 people. Meanwhile, six people are still missing, who are being searched for.

Italian authorities begin investigation

As the emergency response service continues on Monday, Italian authorities have begun investigating the incident. In early June, 59-year-old Mike Lynch was acquitted of all charges by a San Francisco court. In fact, he was accused of large-scale fraud in a case related to the sale of his software firm Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard. Mile Lynch was the co-founder of Autonomy in Cambridge in 1996.

US lawyers had leveled serious allegations

US lawyers had accused Mike Lynch of wire fraud and securities fraud and conspiracy to commit crimes related to years of falsified records. He was extradited from Britain to the US to stand trial on criminal charges. Lynch, a Cambridge University graduate from Suffolk in eastern England, had denied all the allegations and denied any wrongdoing. If Mike Lynch had been found guilty on all 17 charges, he could have faced two decades in prison.

After which, on the night of 14 August, the police arrested Manmohan Singh from Kulhal area. During interrogation, Manmohan Singh confessed his crime. He told that he has been addicted to drugs for a long time. He has already gone to jail in drug smuggling and Arms Act cases. On the day of the incident, he had asked his mother for money for drugs. But his mother refused to give him money and also did not let him go out of the house. He fled with the money after the murder After which, Manmohan Singh, in anger, attacked his mother’s neck with a wooden stick kept in the house. Due to which she died on the spot. After the murder, Manmohan Singh wrapped the body in a mattress and set it on fire so that it appeared that the woman died due to burning. Manmohan fled on a motorcycle with 30 thousand rupees kept in the cupboard of the house and his clothes.
