Uttarakhand: Two prisoners absconded from Haridwar district jail, police engaged in search

There has been a stir due to the escape of two prisoners from the district jail Haridwar. Prisoners Pankaj resident of Roorkee and Rajkumar resident of Gonda Uttar Pradesh, both escaped from jail after getting the opportunity. Pankaj was serving life imprisonment in a murder case, while Rajkumar is an undertrial prisoner. Police is searching for both. It is being told that a high security barrack was being constructed in the jail, for which a staircase was installed, from where both the prisoners escaped. Questions are being raised on the jail administration due to the escape of both the prisoners. At the same time, the police is searching for both the prisoners.

Giving information, Senior Jail Superintendent of Haridwar District Jail Manoj Kumar Arya said that he was on leave, he told that the construction work of high security barrack is going on in the district jail. In such a situation, the CD was kept there, which these two prisoners took advantage of and they escaped from the jail. At present, senior officers have also reached the spot and investigation is going on to find out whose negligence it is.

He told that at night when all the prisoners are locked in the barrack, then the count is done. It was found that two prisoners were missing during the count, after which the entire jail was searched. After that the CCTV cameras were searched. On questioning a prisoner, it was found that both these prisoners had escaped from the jail by using a ladder, after which the police was informed about it. The police is busy searching for both of them.
