Defense Ministry approves Army Road from Gwaldam to Tapovan, Army will be able to reach China border easily
The Ministry of Defense of the Government of India has approved an army road from Gwaldam to Tapovan via Nandkeshari-Dewal-Van-Kanol-Ramni-Jhinjhi-Irani-Durma. After the construction of this road, the chances of prosperity of Dewal, Nandanagar areas have increased.
Army road will be built from Gwaldam to Tapovan
According to the information received, recently the Ministry of Defense of the Government of India has approved the construction of a 99.2 km long road from Gwaldam to Tapovan under the Shivalik project. The responsibility of its construction has been given to BRO. After the construction of this road, the distance from Dharchula to Joshimath China border will be reduced by about 65 km, due to which the army will take about three to four hours less to travel from Gwaldam to Tapovan. Apart from this, the jams at various places from Karnaprayag to Tapovan on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway are also believed to be of great benefit to the army vehicles as well as the devotees coming to Shri Badrinath from Kumaon region.
BRO will build a new 39 km long road
Tharali MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta has expressed happiness over the approval of the construction of the army road from Gwaldam to Tapovan. He said that a large part of Tharali assembly constituency is sure to get huge benefits from this. The MLA has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Garhwal MP Anil Baluni for approving the strategically important road. He said that the construction of this road will definitely benefit the army as well as the local people and will promote tourism activities in this area.
DPR will be prepared soon
Regarding the Gwaldam-Tapovan motor road, BRO Gauchar’s command officer Manohar Kumar said that recently the Defense Ministry has approved the construction of this road and handed over the responsibility of construction work to BRO. He said that the construction of 60 km motor road from Gwaldam to Nandkeshri, Dewal, Van village has been done by PWD Tharali. While widening and improving it, 39 km motor road will be newly constructed by BRO. He said that he has sent a letter to the Executive Engineer of PWD Tharali on Tuesday itself to formally transfer the road from Gwaldam to Van to BRO. Soon BRO will take this road under its control and prepare DPR and start work on this project.
