Sanskrit will be taught in madrasas of Uttarakhand: Madrasa Board Chairman said- The scheme will be implemented in 400 madrasas as soon as the state government gives its permission

Culture can soon be taught in the madrasas of Uttarakhand. It will be kept as an optional subject in more than 400 madrasas of the state. Mufti Shamoon, Chairman of the Madrasa Board, said on Thursday that we have been working on this scheme for a long time. It will be implemented as soon as the state government gives its permission. He said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wants to connect the children going to madrasa with the mainstream, keeping this in mind, we have made this plan.

Good results were obtained by implementing NCERT syllabus in madrasas

Board Chairman Mufti Shamoon said that the implementation of NCERT syllabus in madrasas has shown very good results this year. More than 96% of the children passed. This shows that there is no dearth of talent among the students studying in madrasas. If given a chance, they can perform well in all subjects including culture. He said that both Arabic and Sanskrit are ancient languages. If madrasa students get a chance to study Sanskrit along with Arabic, it will be beneficial for them.

The Child Commission Chairman had written about closing down madrasas

Earlier on October 13, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had written a letter to all the states saying that the funds given to madrasas should be stopped. These do not follow the Right to Education (RTE) rules. The Commission has made this suggestion after preparing a report titled ‘Protector of faith or opponent of rights: Constitutional rights of children vs. madrasas’.

NCPCR said – The entire focus in madrasas is on religious education, due to which children do not get the necessary education and they lag behind other children.

3 recommendations of the Child Commission

  • The funds given by the state to madrasas and madrasa boards should be stopped.
  • Non-Muslim children should be removed from madrasas. According to Article 28 of the Constitution, religious education cannot be given to any child without the consent of the parents.
  • Religious and formal education cannot be given simultaneously inside an institution.
