Drone explosion and now threats, tension between North Korea and South Korea reaches peak

North Korea has accused South Korea of flying drones in its capital, which has further increased the tension between the two countries for months. North Korea alleges that the drone flown by South Korea allegedly threw propaganda material in Pyongyang. This material is being said to be against the North Korean regime. For this reason, North Korea called it an act of provocation. North Korea has threatened South Korea that this type of action can lead to “armed conflict and even war”.

North Korea prepared troops on the border

After accusing South Korea of this, Pyongyang said that it has ordered the border troops to be ready for firing. In return, South Korea adopted a tough stance from the border and said that it is ready to respond, and warned that if the safety of its citizens is threatened, it will signal the “end of the North Korean regime”. From this, it can be guessed to what extent there is bitterness between the two countries.

After Friday’s incident, it was expected that the matter would calm down after the allegations and counter-allegations, but on Tuesday, North Korea blew up parts of two roads that connected it to South Korea. That is, by blowing up the road connecting the two countries, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has given a message that this matter is not going to calm down soon. On Wednesday, North Korea informed that 14 lakh young people of the country have applied to join the army or return to the army. By this, North Korea is proving to what extent the people of its country like the rule of Kim Jong Un. Along with this, it has also given a message that people do not even care about their lives for him.

Let us tell you that in January, North Korean dictator Un had said that his enemy number one is South Korea. After this statement, tension between the two countries has once again reached its peak.

Allegation of drones coming on the night of October 11

Let us remind you that on October 11, the Foreign Ministry of North Korea accused South Korea of sending drones in the sky of Pyongyang at night during two weeks. It has also been alleged that espionage was done through these drones and inflammatory leaflets were dropped in the areas of North Korea. These leaflets were against the regime of North Korea.

In this entire matter, Kim Jong Un’s sister Kim Yo Jong has warned Seoul to face “terrible consequences” if the alleged drones fly again. Later Yo Jong said that there is “clear evidence” that South Korea’s “military gangsters” were behind the alleged provocation.

Along with this, blurred pictures of drones flying in the sky were released by North Korea. Apart from this, pictures allegedly showing leaflets were also released by Pyongyang. These claims of North Korea could not be independently verified at any level.

On the other hand, South Korea initially denied flying drones in the North, but its Joint Chief of Staff later said it could neither confirm nor deny Pyongyang’s allegation. From here the whole matter became more serious.

Let us tell you that locally in South Korea it is being said that the drones were flown by activists, who were sending the same material to the North using balloons.

Park Sang-hak, leader of the Free North Korea Movement Coalition, denied North Korea’s claim about drone intrusion, saying, “We did not send drones to North Korea.”

Kim Jong Un’s action

On the other hand, the North’s official news agency KCNA said that Kim informed that after such an incident, Kim Jong Un immediately came into action mode. He met the army chief, military chiefs, state security and defense ministers and top officials. After which Kim determined the “direction of immediate military action” and tasked officials with “the conduct of war deterrence and the exercise of the right to self-defense.” After this, on Tuesday, the roads connecting South Korea and North Korea were blown up with bomb blasts. Both these blasts took place on Gyeongui and Donghae roads. With these blasts, North Korea gave a clear message to South Korea. It is worth noting that both the roads have been closed for a long time, destroying them sends the message that Kim does not want to negotiate with the South.

South Korea’s measured response

After this, Lee Sung-Joon, public relations officer of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea, described the incident as minor in his response and said that North Korea can do “small-scale provocations” like small explosions on connecting roads.

South Korea says that it has increased surveillance on its border areas. Along with this, the government of the border province Gyeonggi has also started taking steps to prevent people from sending propaganda material across the border.

“Gyeonggi Province has determined that scattering leaflets toward North Korea is an extremely dangerous act that could lead to a military conflict,” Kim Sung-jong, vice governor of Gyeonggi Province, said at a media briefing.

Such leaflets could threaten “the lives and safety of our residents,” Kim said, as “inter-Korean relations are deteriorating rapidly.”

What is the message for the world?

International affairs experts say that by making the drone issue a big issue, North Korea has gained internal support. By showing external threats, the dictator has got a chance to increase people’s loyalty towards the regime. The special thing is that North Korea has been talking about uniting with South Korea.

Is there any possibility of war?

Experts say that at present there is no possibility of war. This type of tension gives North Korea an opportunity to increase people’s loyalty towards the regime. A war on a large scale cannot do any good. There are more chances of a verbal war in both the countries. There is no peace agreement of any kind in both the countries. Both the countries are known as military powers. Let us remind you that North Korea is close to Russia and China and South Korea is close to America and Western countries. If the tension increases, it will definitely affect the world.
