What is the difference between smog and fog? Know which has more effect as soon as winter arrives in Delhi, read IMD’s update
As soon as the month of November arrives, the mood of the weather changes in the cities of North India. The effect of smog and haze is being seen in many cities. People are facing a blanket of fog and smog. In such a situation, the question arises in the minds of many people that what is the difference between fog and smog.
What is fog?
Let us tell you that both fog and smog are in the form of haze that covers the sky, but there are many important differences between the two. Fog is formed by the moisture present in cold air. When fine droplets of water gather in the air due to cold temperature, they form a white fog. Pollution contributes less to the formation of fog, and it is more visible in cold weather.
What is smog?
On the other hand, smog is formed due to pollution. It is formed by a mixture of smoke and dust particles. Its color is light gray or brown. Smog is formed when the pollution particles in the atmosphere combine with the moisture present in the air and form a thick sheet. Smog becomes more dense when the temperature falls and pollution increases, which also affects the air quality.
Light fog will prevail during the day
Visibility has reduced considerably in Delhi on Wednesday due to smog. AQI has increased. The Meteorological Department has predicted light fog during the day and the maximum temperature will be around 32 degrees Celsius.
