Shia Muslims in Pakistan took revenge from Sunnis, 47 people died in heavy violence, Pakistani flag was torn and thrown away

Heavy violence is being witnessed between Shia and Sunni Muslims in Bagan Bazar, Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. On Friday night, Shia Muslims attacked Sunni areas with heavy weapons. Shia Muslims burnt the houses of Sunnis and killed many people. More than 47 people have died so far in the violence of the last two days. It is being told that 20 people have died last night itself. The situation is such that Shia Muslims also took down a huge flag of Pakistan and hoisted their flag in its place. In view of this communal violence, curfew has been imposed in the entire area.
The Pakistani administration has also shut down mobile service in the area to stop the violence. All business and educational institutions in Parachinar area have been closed. This entire area is near the border of Afghanistan and there has been large scale Shia-Sunni violence here earlier as well. On Friday, thousands of Shia Muslims took to the streets of the city. Earlier, Shia Muslims were going from Peshawar to Parachinar with a convoy of about 200 vehicles. During this, Sunni armed groups attacked with heavy weapons in Bagan town.
History of Shia vs Sunni violence in Pakistan
Eyewitnesses say that Sunni groups started firing from all sides, due to which a large number of people were killed. This entire attack lasted for about 30 minutes. According to Dawn newspaper, 16 other people are injured, out of which 11 people are in critical condition. Shia Muslim groups are furious after this violence. They said that the police was accompanying this convoy but failed to provide security. Kurram’s deputy commissioner has confirmed the death toll.
After this violence, massive protests are going on in the entire area. According to AFP report, the situation in the entire area is very tense and due to this, mobile service has been shut down. After the burial of the people killed in the Sunni attack, the Shias became furious and burnt down two posts of the Pakistani army. Kurram has a long history of bloody violence between Shias and Sunnis. Earlier, there was a fierce clash between the two in the months of July and September.
