Uttarakhand: On the instructions of CM Dhami, the campaign against fake medicines gained momentum, 862 establishments were raided in 01 year

The Food Safety and Drug Control Administration is currently conducting raids against illegal drugs and counterfeit drugs across the state. Under this, the department raided 862 establishments in the last one year and also collected samples. Investigation of 52 samples is underway. Action is being taken to cancel the license of two companies and a recommendation has been made to register a criminal case against five companies. Rajesh Kumar said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, the campaign against illegal drugs and counterfeit drugs is continuing in the state. Rajesh Kumar said that those making fake or substandard medicines will not be spared and strict legal action will be taken against them. Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that the department is making every effort to prevent drug addiction and strict action will be taken against companies making or selling such illegal drugs. On receiving information about the manufacture of fake medicines in a factory located on Langha Road in Sahaspur, Dehradun, the Drug Department, Police and Narcotics Task Force took joint action and arrested three accused of Green Herbal Company. Two are still absconding. This company had got a food license but was manufacturing medicines illegally. These drugs are used under the Narcotics Act. During this, the joint team recovered 1921 capsules / tablets, 592 bottles of syrup etc. and 342 empty wrappers from the factory.

According to Drug Controller Tajbar Jaggi, information was received that drugs were being manufactured for intoxication use in Herbal Green Factory on Langha Road. Taking immediate action on which, the team of Drug Department, Doon Police and ANTF raided. It was found that Herbal Green Factory has a food license, which was obtained in the year 2023. The narcotics drugs that were being manufactured there did not have a license. Therefore, the factory and the manufacturing being done in it will be considered fake. The drugs are being sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination. Where the salt and other elements used in them will be tested.

03 accused arrested, 02 absconding

Taking action against the fraud, Sanjay Kumar (age 39 years) resident of village Muskipur district Saharanpur (presently resident of Teacher Colony Sahaspur), Shiv Kumar (age 36 years) presently resident of Pragati Vihar Selaqui and Rehman (age 38 years) resident of village Bhusi district Chandauli (presently resident of Parwal Umedpur) were arrested. At the same time, Kanhaiya and Rishabh are being searched. All are in the role of factory operator and partner. Equipment used to make narcotics drugs have also been seized. The team that took action included Drug Inspector Manvendra Rana, Jagdish Raturi from FDA Vigilance, Sanjay Singh Negi along with local police and ANTF personnel.

The game going on in the name of psychotropic drugs exposed

Drug Controller Tajbar Jaggi said that the drugs which were being manufactured in the said factory on food license are psychotropic (mind influencing) and their excessive consumption makes a person intoxicated. The trend of such drugs is increasing as an alternative to intoxication. This entire game will be exposed and the culprits will be given strict punishment.

Raids at 862 places in 01 year, 81 licenses suspended

According to Drug Controller Tajbar Singh Jaggi, the department is continuously conducting raids against fake medicines and fake companies. In the last one year, the department has conducted raids at 862 places. 352 legal samples have also been taken from many companies for investigation. At present, investigation of 35 products is in progress. He informed that action is being taken to cancel the drug manufacturing license of two companies and the purchase and sale of products of 72 companies has been banned. Drug Controller Tajbar Singh Jaggi informed that legal action is being taken against five companies. It has been recommended to cancel the sales license of ten companies. Apart from this, the premises of 6 companies have been sealed. He informed that 81 licenses have been suspended in Kumaon and the licenses of nine companies have been cancelled. The licenses of 11 drug manufacturing companies have also been suspended.
