Uttar Pradesh: 18 year old kidnapping case, Shahjahanpur court sentenced 9 culprits to life imprisonment
The court in the district has sentenced nine kidnappers to life imprisonment in the famous Paras kidnapping case that happened 18 years ago. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 27,000 on all the accused. After pronouncing the sentence, all the accused kidnappers were sent to jail. The sentence was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge Narendra Pandey of the Fast Track Court.
Government advocate Sanjeev Singh said that on the night of 2 August 2007 at 9:30 pm, after closing the shop, Paras was going to leave the house with his brother Vineet and a friend Furkan, when some people armed with weapons came on a bridge near a college and after beating Paras, they kidnapped him by making him sit in their car. After this, his brother Vineet lodged an FIR. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore. 5 days after the incident, the police recovered Paras safely during an encounter.
Government advocate Sanjeev Singh said that on Saturday, Additional Sessions Judge of Fast Track Court Narendra Nath Pandey has sentenced 9 accused to life imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of Rs 27,000 each has been imposed. Apart from this, 5-5 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000 each has been imposed in the case of police encounter. After sentencing, all the accused have been sent to jail. In this case, trial was going on in the court against 11 people. Two accused died during the trial.
