Indian Army takes charge of Chamoli disaster, rescue operation continues amid snowfall

A major accident occurred due to the breaking of the glacier in Mana village of Chamoli on Friday. Let us tell you that 57 laborers engaged in construction work were buried. Out of which 15 laborers have been safely evacuated. While the search operation is going on for other laborers.

Let us tell you that ITBP personnel are running rescue operations on the spot. Due to snowfall, there is a problem in the rescue operation. The administration has sought help from the Air Force to evacuate the trapped laborers.

According to sources, all these laborers were working under the contract of BRO. All the laborers were engaged in construction work near Mana village.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the Disaster Operations Center as soon as he got information about the accident. Where the CM took an update from the officials about the rescue operation.

Amit Shah has taken information about the Chamoli avalanche by talking to CM Dhami on the phone. Shah posted on social media and wrote, ‘Safely evacuating the people trapped in the accident is our priority.

Amit Shah said, ‘The local administration is engaged in rescue operations with full readiness. Two NDRF teams are also reaching the spot soon’.

Process of opening the route continues

Regarding the avalanche incident, SDRF Inspector General Ridhim Agarwal said that a total of 57 workers of Border Road Organization (BRO) have been affected in the avalanche incident near Mana village. According to Commandant BRO, so far 15 workers are safe, while 42 were missing. A team of SDRF has left from Joshimath. Due to road blockage in Lambagad, the process of opening the route by contacting the army is going on.

Waiting for improvement in weather conditions

At the same time, the second team has been kept on alert at Sahasradhara helipad. As soon as the weather conditions improve, the high-altitude rescue team of SDRF will be landed by helicopter at the nearest available place. SDRF and district administration are coordinating with BRO and Army. Aggarwal said that the SDRF drone team has also been kept ready. Due to heavy snowfall, drone operation is not possible at present.
