Election Commission’s directive came on Mamta Banerjee’s allegation

Amidst Mamata Banerjee’s questions regarding the voter list in West Bengal, a big directive of the Election Commission has come to the fore. The Election Commission has sought an action taken report by March 31. Along with this, instructions have been given to hold regular meetings with all political parties. Mamata Banerjee has made serious allegations against the Election Commission and asked how can two voters have one EPIC number?

After Mamata’s question regarding EPIC, the Election Commission has taken action. The Election Commission has directed CEOs, DEOs and EROs to hold regular meetings with political parties. Along with this, the Election Commission has sought an action taken report from CEOs across the country by March 31. The EC has instructed the officials to keep 800 to 1200 voters at a polling booth. Along with this, instructions have been given to have booths within a radius of 2 km from the residence of the voters.

In fact, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has raised questions about the voter list in the state. Earlier, the opposition India Alliance’s constituent party Congress and Uddhav faction’s Shiv Sena had raised doubts about the voter list in the Maharashtra assembly elections. In this case, a new debate has started about the voter list.

Recently, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of registering the names of fake voters from other states in the voter list with the help of the Election Commission and claimed that the party had adopted a similar strategy to win the Delhi and Maharashtra assembly elections. Mamata also questioned the appointment of Gyanesh Kumar as Chief Election Commissioner and alleged that the BJP was “trying to influence” the constitutional body.

Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of ‘registering fake voters from other states in various districts of West Bengal with the help of the Election Commission’. Also directed the party leaders and workers to start investigating the voter list. Mamata Banerjee stressed that these works should be the party’s priority before the elections.

Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of trying to influence the Election Commission of India and warned, “I used to respect the Election Commission. But now it seems that there are people associated with the BJP in it. The new Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has previously worked as Secretary in the Department of Cooperation under the Union Home Minister. Do not forget, we can also sit on a dharna near the Election Commission office in Delhi.”
