What happened in UP 9 years ago is going to happen again, IMD’s ‘big update’

Last year in April, the maximum temperature in many cities of Uttar Pradesh reached 42°C, but this time the mercury has crossed 35-37°C in March itself. This is 2-3 degrees more than the average, which indicates severe heat in the coming days. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), due to less rainfall in February and March, the temperature has increased rapidly, due to which people are already facing scorching sun and heat waves.
Despite the month of Falgun, the scorching afternoon sun has reminded of the heat of Chaitra month. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature has increased due to the activation of Western Disturbance. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, heat has knocked prematurely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Jharkhand.
However, from March 13, some relief is expected in many parts of the state due to strong winds and rain. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be thunderstorms in some parts of western UP, while light rain is also expected on March 14. Light rain is also expected in both eastern and western parts of the state on March 15.
Apart from this, a yellow alert has also been issued for thunderstorms and storms in some areas including western UP and Kanpur division. After this, the temperature may increase further from March 20, due to which many cities are expected to cross the 40°C mark in early April itself.
Meteorologists believe that this year the heat may also surpass the records of 2016 and 2022, when the temperature in some cities of Uttar Pradesh reached 48°C.
Tremendous fluctuations have been seen in the temperature in the last few days. While the day’s mercury was 24.4°C on March 5, it increased to 33.6°C on March 11. That is, the temperature has increased by 9.2°C in just six days.
Since the beginning of March, the heat has started showing its effect, due to which people are in a bad condition. However, some relief is expected from rain and strong winds in the coming days.
But this year the heat can break all previous records. However, there will be some relief from rain and strong winds in between, but this relief is not going to last for long. In view of the possibility of severe heat in April-May, people need to be alert in advance and adopt measures to protect themselves from the heat.
