‘Sangh Parivar is spreading cancer…’ What did Mahatma Gandhi’s great grandson say, created a ruckus

Tensions escalated in Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala on Wednesday evening when RSS workers protested against Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. This protest took place when Tushar Gandhi arrived at the unveiling ceremony of the statue of Gandhian representative Gopinathan Nair. During this, he made a sharp statement about RSS. Tushar Gandhi accused RSS of spreading cancer in the soul of the country.
RSS and BJP protest
Tushar Gandhi said in his speech, ‘The soul of the country has cancer and the Sangh Parivar (RSS) is spreading it.’ This statement infuriated BJP and RSS workers and they demanded an apology, but Tushar Gandhi refused to back down from his statement and left the place shouting slogans of ‘Gandhi Amar Rahe’.
Sloganeering was done and the car was also stopped
The protesters raised slogans against him and tried to stop his car, but Tushar Gandhi also responded to them by raising slogans of ‘RSS Murdabad’ and ‘Gandhi Zindabad’.
RSS is haunted by the ghost of Godse
On the other hand, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) strongly condemned the actions of RSS-BJP workers. KPCC President K Sudhakaran called it an insult to the secular values of Kerala and alleged that BJP-RSS is haunted by the ghost of Godse.
‘RSS is a threat to the country’
He further said that there is no place in Kerala for such communal forces that insult Gandhi and praise Godse. Sangh Parivar has become a cancer for the soul of the country and it is a threat to secularism, democracy and freedom. What is wrong in this? The activities of RSS and BJP are akin to insulting Gandhi.
Questions raised on CPM too
Sudhakaran also questioned the silence of the ruling CPM (Communist Party) and asked whether CPM considers BJP a fascist force or not. He said, ‘The secular people of Kerala will not forgive this disgusting act.’
