Uttarakhand’s senior IAS officer BVRC Purushottam has expressed his desire for voluntary retirement. His decision is very shocking. But this is not the first time that All India Service officers in Uttarakhand have been disillusioned due to various reasons.

During the transfer posting of bureaucracy in Uttarakhand, many officers often have to be satisfied with side postings. On the other hand, there are officers who mostly hold posts and departments with important responsibilities. Well, this decision is taken by the CM on the fourth floor with the suggestion of his close ones. But this time the matter is not related to posting, but about the voluntary retirement of an officer who is known for his work and is counted among the hardworking officers.

Reason for seeking voluntary retirement given: 2004 batch IAS BVRC Purushottam, who is looking after departments like Animal Husbandry, Fisheries as Secretary in the government, has applied for voluntary retirement. Although this IAS officer has given family reasons behind this, but there are discussions that the IAS officer has better options in the private sector in his native state. When IAS officer BVRC Purushottam was talked to, he said that he is currently on leave due to family reasons and due to family reasons he has applied for voluntary retirement. However, he still has a service period of more than 12 years. He is due to retire in 2037.

The special thing is that IAS officer BVRC Purushottam has already requested the government to go on deputation to his native state (Andhra Pradesh). It is reported that after this the Uttarakhand government also gave him NOC for this. But the Government of India has strict rules regarding inter-state deputation for secretary level officers and that is why he could not go on deputation to his native state.

These officers have taken VRS

However, this is not the first time in Uttarakhand when IAS officers have taken voluntary retirement while in service due to various reasons. There are some officers in IAS, IPS and now IFS in the state who have done this. If we look at the latest names, IAS officer Umakant Panwar took voluntary retirement about 10 years before his retirement. After this, his wife Manisha Panwar also took voluntary retirement due to health reasons.

Apart from this, IS officer Bhupendra Kaur Aulakh also took voluntary retirement before time. Similarly, IPS V Vinay Kumar also took VRS before retirement.
