Pakistani flag pasted on toilet wall in Bengal, police arrested two people for spreading hatred
The Bongaon police have arrested two people for pasting Pakistani flags on the wall of a public toilet in West Bengal. Police say that these people tried to incite communal tension. This flag was seen near Akaipur station in North 24-Parganas district late Wednesday (April 30, 2025), which comes under Gopalnagar police station.
According to a report in The Telegraph, the police say that the accused also planned to write provocative slogans like Hindustan Murdabad and Pakistan Zindabad on the wall to disturb the peace in the area. The arrested people have been identified as Chandan Malakar, 30, and Progyajit Mandal, 45. According to the police, both are residents of the area and are said to be active members of Sanatani Ekta Manch as well as a political party.
What did the police say?
In a post shared on X on Thursday (May 01, 2025), the Bongaon police said that the act was done deliberately and its aim was to spoil communal harmony. Police said that both have confessed to the act. Police said, “This was done deliberately to spread communal unrest. We will leave no stone unturned to punish those who hatched such a conspiracy.”
Law will do its work, said police
A case has been registered against both the people and they have been taken into custody. Police have said that investigation is going on and strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in trying to disturb the peace. A senior officer said that the law will do its work against those who try to take advantage of religious sentiments and destabilize the atmosphere.
