Notification has been issued regarding three-tier panchayat elections in Uttarakhand. These elections are going to be held in 12 districts except Haridwar district. The election is going to be held in two phases. Uttarakhand Congress State President Karan Mahara has taken a dig at the government regarding the panchayat elections being held in two phases.

Congress State President Karan Mahara said that the government is not even capable of conducting elections of only 12 districts simultaneously. This means that the government is bringing the Maharashtra model here. BJP wants to win the election by shifting voters from here to there and voters from there to here. Karan Mahara alleged that the government is going to conduct elections in two phases with the intention of influencing the elections. Calling it a joke, he said that the Dhami government and the Election Commission are not able to handle even 12 districts.

Congress State President Karan Mahara said that the Dhami government, its ministers and spokespersons are not able to answer his point that the elections are going to be held on the basis of the 2011 census, but the roster has been zeroed. Legally it is already decided how the elections will be held and what will be the reservation system, but today reservation is being decided according to the population. There are many blocks in which all the seats have been reserved for women. In some blocks all the seats have been made general.

Raising questions on the intention of the government, he said that the government is deliberately doing something so that objections are registered, people get agitated, and the matter gets stuck in the court. So that elections do not have to be held. Karan Mahara said that the court date is on June 24. Congress is also waiting for it. He said that not only in the state but for the first time in the country something like this happened that the government appointed administrators in the panchayats. During this, there were four-five days in which the panchayats did not have administrators, block pramukh, district panchayat president, even the pradhan.
