In view of the continuous rains in Uttarakhand, mock drills are being conducted in the plains of Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat and Nainital to deal with floods and waterlogging. In this sequence, a mock drill was conducted at Shyampur Ganga Ghat, in which the preparations were reviewed amid the possibility of disaster.

During the mock drill in Haridwar, a hypothetical situation was created, in which a young man was shown floating in the strong current of the Ganga. On this, the disaster management, water police and medical teams responded quickly and pulled the young man out safely and gave first aid on the spot. This mock drill was to test the quick response capability in case of disaster.

Amount of water released from Bhimgoda Barrage limited

Police and administration teams also conducted a mock drill at Vishnu Ghat in Haridwar. Due to continuous rains, a large amount of silt is coming from the mountains. In view of this situation, the UP Irrigation Department has limited the amount of water released from Bhimgoda Barrage. Only that much water is being sent to Har ki Pauri and other ghats so that the devotees can take a sip of water and take a bath.

However, some people are taking risks and making reels in the middle of the river, due to which there is a possibility of an accident. The water level of Ganga has reached 293 meters, which is equal to the danger mark. At the same time, 179 routes have been closed due to debris across the state.
