It is not known what condition the jewellery worth crores of rupees and lakhs of rupees is in inside this building which is stuck amidst hundreds of tons of debris. On the condition of anonymity, a bank employee said that it is difficult to estimate the amount of money inside but the extent of damage to the locker will be known only after the debris is removed.

Some local people whose savings are in the locker are guarding it because many thieves have also become active in this natural disaster who are stealing people’s valuables that have been washed away with the water.

The first floor of Himachal Co-operative Bank is filled with water and debris. The flow of water was so much that the shutter of one side was uprooted while two shutters have become crooked. The bank manager is estimating the damage outside the bank.

The bank was in the middle of Thunang market, so about 150 traders of the market had accounts here and their transactions took place.

Local trader Hari Mohan said that this was the only bank in this town with a population of 8000, which was old and there was a lot of transactions, but at present the cash, documents and lockers kept in the bank have all turned into rubble.
