Uttarakhand: Terror of bear in Gausikunwa of Khatima forest range, attacked a villager

A case of a person being seriously injured in a bear attack has come to light in the border Khatima. The bear attacked a person who had come out of his house to urinate at night in a house adjacent to the forest in the Gausikunwa area. The bear ran away towards the forest when the family members shouted. On informing the forest workers, they reached the spot and admitted the injured to the civil hospital for treatment.

In the Khatima area, the attacks by wild animals are not stopping. In the latest case, this time in the Gausikunwa area of Khatima forest range, a bear suddenly attacked a villager who had come out of his house to urinate last night. The bear attacked the villager’s hands, back and head with its teeth and claws and seriously injured him. Hearing the noise, the wife of the injured villager who came out started shouting after seeing the bear. When other villagers woke up and everyone shouted, the bear ran away towards the forest.

On informing the forest department, the forest workers reached the spot and admitted the injured villager Sanjeet Rana to the civil hospital for treatment. Where the villager is undergoing treatment. The victim’s wife said that her husband was attacked when he went out of the house to urinate at around 2 o’clock last night.

Forest Range Officer Khatima Forest Range Jeevan Chandra Upreti has confirmed the death of local villager Sanjeet Rana son of Raja Ram in a bear attack in Gausikunwa area of Khatima last night. He also informed that the injured villager has been admitted to Civil Hospital Khatima by forest personnel for treatment. According to Ranger Upreti, the injured villager is out of danger now. Action is being taken to give compensation to the villager under the Forest Act. He said that people of rural areas should not come out of their homes during the rainy season. He appealed not to go near the forest in the morning and evening. So that wildlife attacks can be avoided. Apart from this, he has talked about increasing patrolling for human safety in various areas of the forest range.
