The case related to the India’s Got Latent controversy was heard in the Supreme Court on Monday. During the hearing, Supreme Court Justice Joymalya Bagchi made a strict comment and said, humor is taken well and it is an integral part of life, we laugh at ourselves. But when we start laughing at others and hurt sensitivities. When humor arises at the community level, it becomes a problem. And this is what today’s so-called influential people should keep in mind.

Apology should be made publicly

Justice Bagchi said, some people are commercializing freedom of expression. Community should not be used to hurt the sentiments of a particular class. This is not just freedom of expression, but commercial speech. The Supreme Court directed social media influencers including Samay Raina and said that they should apologize for ridiculing the disabled in their podcasts and programs.

On this matter, Justice Suryakant said that there should be a balance between rights and duties. Comedian Samay Raina and others’ lawyer said that we have apologized unconditionally. The defendants are present as per the previous order. On this, Justice Suryakant said that next time tell us how much fine we should impose on you.

The court asked the government to issue guidelines

Justice Suryakant said that today it is about the disabled, next time it may be about women, senior citizens, children… where will it end? The court has asked everyone to apologize. The court said everyone should apologize on YouTube. The court will hear the case in November. The Supreme Court asked the central government to make guidelines to curb speeches that insult or ridicule the disabled, women, children and senior citizens on social media.
