Uttarakhand: The central team will come on September 8 to assess the damage caused by the disaster, CM Dhami expressed gratitude

The Union Home Ministry has constituted an inter-ministerial central team to assess the damage caused by the disaster this year in Uttarakhand. This seven-member team, constituted under the chairmanship of Joint Secretary of Home Ministry R Prasanna, is coming to Uttarakhand on September 8.

Uttarakhand has suffered a lot due to monsoon rains this year. The state has requested the Center for financial assistance to compensate for this loss and to secure the infrastructure that is on the verge of getting damaged.

On Thursday, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister RK Sudhanshu and Secretary Disaster Management Vinod Kumar Suman have also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Secretary of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in New Delhi. Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu said that the talks held with the officials of NDMA have been fruitful and positive. In the meeting, there was an in-depth discussion on the memorandum submitted by the state government. The central officials have assured that every possible financial package will be made available to the state.

Secretary Disaster Management Vinod Kumar Suman said that the Center has constituted a seven-member committee to assess the damage caused during the disaster in Uttarakhand. It includes Joint Secretary Home as well as Deputy Director Mahesh Kumar, Superintending Engineer Sudhir Kumar, Deputy Director Vikas Sachan, Chief Engineer Pankaj Singh, Director Dr. Virendra Singh and R Krishna Kumari.

This team will visit all the disaster-affected districts and directly assess the situation there. He said that all preparations have been completed to make the team assess the ground situation of the affected areas.

Getting full support from the Center: Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in this hour of disaster, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are constantly standing with the state. The central government has provided all possible support so far, as a result of which relief and rescue operations have gained momentum. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed the state to send a proposal regarding the damage caused by the disasters. In this sequence, the state has requested the Center to give a special package.
