A review meeting of the State Road Safety Fund Management Committee was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. The Chief Secretary directed the Transport Department, Police Department, and related officials to implement zero-tolerance measures for road safety violations. In the event of violations of road safety standards, enforcement measures should not be implemented in a partial manner; instead, any enforcement action taken should be prompt and 100% implemented. To achieve this, even if necessary, amendments to road safety standards within the state should be made.
He directed that licenses of those caught jumping red lights be suspended for at least three months. He also stated that in cases where challan proceedings have been completed for road safety violations, but the person concerned has not yet completed the compounding process, ensure that further action is taken by tracking the vehicle through CCTV cameras.
The Chief Secretary directed the Police Department to submit a proposal for incorporating any equipment, traffic and street lights or latest technological equipment to make traffic operations more automated and digital.
He also directed to run a public awareness campaign on a large scale along with enforcement action. He directed the Transport Department and Health Department to consider heli ambulance and other better options for quick medical emergency in case of road accident and prepare a proposal after doing the homework on it thoroughly. Secretary Shailesh Bagoli and Brijesh Kumar Sant, Inspector General of Police Nilesh Anand Bharne and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
