A scheme for schools will be made on the lines of PM Shri Yojana in Uttarakhand: Chief Secretary

Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the PM Shri and Lakhpati Didi schemes at the Secretariat on Friday. The Chief Secretary stated that a scheme similar to the PM Shri scheme should be implemented in Uttarakhand to modernize schools.
The Chief Secretary stated that under the PM Shri scheme, schools are provided with a sum of ₹40 lakh (a total of ₹2 crore) for five years, which helps provide smart classes, science labs, libraries, and sports facilities. He directed officials to implement a scheme similar to the PM Shri scheme in the state to provide modern facilities for children’s learning. This will accelerate the availability of smart classes, science labs, and libraries in all government schools in the state. He recommended starting with cluster schools.
Capacity development programs should be conducted for self-help groups
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the Lakhpati Didi scheme. He stated that instructions have been given to conduct continuous capacity building programs to make the Lakhpati Didi Scheme more effective and to improve the quality of self-help group products through the maximum use of technology. The Lakhpati Didi Scheme should be continuously monitored. He stated that a State-Level Steering Committee and a State-Level Monitoring Committee should be formed under the Lakhpati Didi Scheme soon and their meetings should be held regularly. He urged greater focus on providing markets for self-help group products, including e-commerce platforms and retail chains. He also called for the products to be included in the House of Himalayas.
Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Additional Secretaries Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Meherban Singh Bisht, and Jharna Kamthan, along with other senior officials, were present on the occasion.
