Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump at the White House. He not only thanked Trump for the Gaza ceasefire agreement and the release of Israeli hostages, but also demanded an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. Zelensky also presented Trump with a list of US weapons, including Patriot missiles, Tomahawk missiles, and F-16 fighter jets. However, Trump has not agreed to hand over any of these weapons to Ukraine. Trump has also indicated that he will not agree to sell long-range missiles to Ukraine.

Zelensky met with Trump at the White House

Zelensky, along with his top aides, arrived at the White House to discuss the latest developments with Trump over lunch. The day before, the US President and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a lengthy phone conversation, which focused on the issue of the war. Zelensky began his conversation with the US President by congratulating him on last week’s ceasefire and hostage settlement in Gaza. He said that Trump now has a great opportunity to stop the Russia-Ukraine war.

Zelensky appealed to Trump for a ceasefire

Zelensky said, “President Trump now has a great opportunity to end this war.” Recently, Trump had expressed his intention to sell long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, while Putin had warned that such a move would further strain US-Russia relations.

Zelensky met with officials from Raytheon and Lockheed

Before meeting with Trump, Zelensky met with representatives of the American defense company Raytheon. Raytheon manufactures Tomahawk missiles and Patriot systems, which Ukraine desperately needs. “Met with representatives of the Raytheon defense company, which manufactures Patriot systems, among other things,” Zelensky said on Telegram. The president further stated that the meeting discussed US-Ukraine cooperation to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. Zelensky also met with representatives of Lockheed Martin, a defense company that makes F-16 fighter jets.
