The case of the suspicious death of Aqeel Akhtar, son of former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Mustafa and former Punjab minister Razia Sultana, has taken a new turn. Panchkula police have registered an FIR against five family members, including Mohammad Mustafa, his wife Razia Sultana, daughter, and daughter-in-law, on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.

The FIR was filed based on a complaint by Shamsuddin, a neighbor of Aqeel, who submitted the complaint to the Police Commissioner. The complaint makes serious allegations, including that Aqeel’s wife and his father, Mohammad Mustafa, had an illicit relationship, and that former minister Razia Sultana was also involved in the conspiracy.

A video before death became the basis

The case was registered at the Panchkula Mansa Devi police station based on a video that surfaced after Aqeel Akhtar’s (35) death late on October 16. The family initially stated that Aqeel died of a drug overdose.

However, a video of Aqeel from August 27th has surfaced, in which he made serious allegations against his family members of conspiring to murder him. In the video, he also explicitly mentioned the illicit relationship between his father and wife.

Case registered under these sections

Based on the complaint from neighbor Shamsuddin and the viral video, the police have registered a case against Mohammad Mustafa, his wife Razia Sultana (a former Punjab minister), daughter-in-law, and daughter under sections 103(1) (murder) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police are now thoroughly investigating the matter and verifying the authenticity of the viral video. This case could increase the troubles for the former DGP and his family.
