A case of brandishing a weapon in ATS Colony, under the jurisdiction of Raipur Police Station, following a dispute over bursting firecrackers on Diwali, surfaced. Taking immediate cognizance of the incident, District Magistrate Savin Bansal confiscated the weapon and suspended the license. The process for license cancellation has been initiated. When the matter of brandishing a weapon in ATS Colony, sparked by a heated argument on Diwali, reached the District Magistrate, the District Magistrate confiscated the weapon and suspended the license. The license cancellation process is now underway. District Magistrate Savin Bansal stated that violating the law is unacceptable in the district and strict action will be taken against those who do so. A dispute arose between two parties in ATS Colony on Diwali over the lighting of firecrackers. The conditions under which licenses were granted to arms license holders were grossly violated. The incident of brandishing a weapon over a minor dispute raises the possibility of future misuse of the weapon; the District Magistrate summoned both parties.
In the report submitted by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, regarding the above incident, it was stated that the Sub-Inspector, Outpost Incharge, Mayur Vihar, Police Station, Raipur, Dehradun, through the Station House Officer, Raipur, Dehradun, informed in his report dated 24.10.2025 that on 19.10.2025, a dispute arose between two parties in the ATS Colony under the jurisdiction of the Raipur Police Station over the burning of firecrackers. In view of peace and law and order, challans have been sent to the Hon’ble Court for both parties under Sections 126/135 of the IPC. During the incident, Puneet Agarwal, son of Madan Mohan Agarwal, resident of 144 L, ATS Colony, near IT Park, Dehradun, displayed his licensed weapon during a minor dispute. This display of a licensed weapon during a minor dispute constituted a negligent act on the part of Puneet Agarwal, the license holder, and his weapon was confiscated and the license holder’s license was suspended. In view of the seriousness of the case, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, requested the cancellation of the arms license number 597/Thana Raipur UIN No. 335601004165002023 of the license holder Puneet Agarwal, son of Madan Mohan Agarwal, resident of 144L ATS Colony. Following this, the District Magistrate suspended the license and confiscated the weapon. The process of license cancellation has been initiated.
