Political accusations and counter-accusations have intensified regarding the construction of the proposed link road connecting Karnataka Khola-Railapali-Sarkar ki Aali to Vikas Bhawan. BJP leader and former minister Bittu Karnataka has accused the local MLA of Almora of falsely claiming credit for the approval and construction of this road.

Almora MLA provided false information regarding road construction
Karnataka said that on December 12, 2025, the Almora MLA attempted to mislead the public by providing false information to the press. He alleged that as soon as tenders were invited for the road construction, the MLA started boasting about it and claiming credit, whereas the approval of this motor road is the result of his long struggle. Karnataka said that if the MLA has truly been working for the construction of this road, then he should explain how many protests he organized, how many letters he sent to the administration and the government, and how many questions he raised in the assembly regarding this road. He challenged the MLA to present complete information with documentary evidence to the press.

Karnataka alleges attempts to mislead the public
Karnataka stated that in 2014, on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day in Jayanti Dham, Almora, he had the then Chief Minister announce the need for this link motor road. The objective was to alleviate traffic congestion on Lower Mall Road. Following this, there was a delay in action at the Public Works Department and government levels for years, due to which he continuously engaged in correspondence, complaints, and protests. Bittu Karnataka said that he registered several complaints on the CM Helpline portal and sent numerous letters to the Chief Minister, the District Magistrate of Almora, and the Public Works Department. He also organized several protests.

Karnataka appeals to the media to present the real facts to the public
Karnataka stated that as a result of these efforts, in-principle approval for forest land transfer was received, a revised estimate was sent to the government, and a budget was also sanctioned for the first phase. The road was surveyed and the tender process was completed. Currently, an amount of Rs. 76.69 lakh has been sanctioned under the state plan for the second phase. Bittu Karnataka appealed to the media to present the true facts to the public so that no elected representative can mislead the public by taking credit for the struggles of others.
