Chief Minister Dhami distributed funds online from the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday. An amount of Rs 33.22 crore was transferred to 3,848 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme. During this time, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to ensuring that the youth of Uttarakhand become job creators, not job seekers.

Migrant workers who returned during COVID-19, young entrepreneurs, artisans, craftspeople, and educated unemployed individuals are the main beneficiaries of this scheme. Under the scheme, loan facilities are being provided to native and permanent residents of the state in the manufacturing, service, and trade sectors through nationalized, cooperative, and regional rural banks. Project costs up to Rs 25 lakh are permissible for manufacturing units and up to Rs 10 lakh for service and trade units. Under the scheme, 15 to 25 percent of the project cost is being provided as margin money subsidy.

Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme Statistics:
• A target of connecting approximately 32,000 beneficiaries under the scheme was set.

• More than 35,000 beneficiaries have benefited from this scheme so far.

• Loans worth more than Rs 1,389 crore have been disbursed under the scheme.

• This has created approximately 64,966 new jobs.

The Chief Minister described it as a game-changer scheme for small traders and for making the state self-reliant. He said that considering the success of the scheme, the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme 2.0 (MSY 2.0) has been launched from 2025. This integrates the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme and the Nano Scheme.

In the new system, the subsidy limit has been increased from 15 percent to 30 percent. Additionally, a provision for an extra 5 percent subsidy has been made under the concept of geographical, social, and product boosters. This will make the scheme economically as well as socially empowering. The Chief Minister said that the subsidy has been transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts online. This is proof of the government’s transparent, technology-based, and corruption-free working methodology. The Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme is not just a scheme, but a strong foundation for a self-reliant Uttarakhand. During the event, the Chief Minister also interacted with beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme.
