An Agniveer soldier, who was on leave after completing his training, died in a road accident in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Another young man, who was riding on the motorcycle with him, was injured and is currently receiving treatment. The police have taken the body into custody and are investigating the incident. It is reported that the family had recently organized a religious ceremony (Jagran) to celebrate their son’s return home after his training.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 11:30 AM on Wednesday near Nagchala on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway. The deceased has been identified as Ishant (21), son of Rajesh, a resident of Bharehar village, Baroti (Sundernagar), and the injured man is Neeraj (27). The police have registered a case against the car driver, Deepak Gupta, a resident of Ratti.
It is reported that the young men were on their way to Manali when the accident occurred. As their motorcycle was traveling on the highway, it collided with a car. The collision was so severe that both young men were thrown onto the road. A police team arrived at the scene and took the young men to the hospital, but Ishant succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Religious Ceremony Held Just the Day Before
It is noteworthy that Ishant had returned home on leave last week after completing his training in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Just the day before, the family had visited the Murari Devi Temple and the Sheetla Mata Temple. They had also organized prayers and a feast at home. It is reported that Ishant and his friend had planned to visit a temple in Kullu-Manali on Wednesday. However, the tragic death of the Agniveer soldier Ishant in this accident has shocked everyone. A wave of grief has swept through the entire village.
