Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unexpectedly visited the Dalanwala police station in Dehradun on Friday. During the visit, CM Dhami ordered the immediate suspension of the station house officer (SHO) for being absent from duty. CM Dhami also met with people who had come to the station to file complaints and listened to their problems.

CM’s On-the-Spot Decision: SHO Suspended
During CM Dhami’s surprise inspection, the SHO of the Dalanwala police station was found absent from duty. This angered the Chief Minister. CM Dhami immediately ordered his suspension. The Chief Minister stated in strong terms that any level of negligence in sensitive responsibilities like law and order and public service is an inexcusable offense, and immediate and strict action will be taken in such cases.

Left After Meetings, Met with Complainants
After attending various meetings, Chief Minister Dhami unexpectedly arrived at the police station and conducted a thorough inspection of its entire functioning. The Chief Minister’s surprise visit caused a stir in the police department and revealed the actual state of affairs at the station.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister directly interacted with several complainants at the police station and listened to their problems attentively. He instructed the police personnel to register complaints not as a formality but as a responsibility, and to ensure their immediate, impartial, and effective resolution.

Visited the Women’s Help Desk
The Chief Minister also visited the Women’s Help Desk and spoke with the women complainants present there, inquiring about their grievances. He emphasized the importance of sensitivity, confidentiality, and prompt action in matters related to women’s safety and warned of strict action against any kind of laxity.

The Chief Minister conducted a detailed inspection of the FIR register, inquiring about the action taken on registered cases, the status of follow-ups, and pending cases. He also inspected the duty register and attendance register and gave instructions to ensure accountability and responsibility among the personnel.

Dirt and Disarray Spoiled the Mood
During the inspection, the Chief Minister expressed deep displeasure at the dirt and disarray in the police station’s lockup and instructed that proper cleanliness and arrangements in accordance with the standards be ensured immediately. He stated that the condition of the police station itself reflects the work culture of the administration.

Reviewing the ongoing vehicle inspection campaigns, verification drives, and crime control measures, the Chief Minister gave clear instructions that any laxity in these operations would not be tolerated. He also expressed serious dissatisfaction with the traffic management in the area and ordered a thorough investigation to determine accountability.

“Every officer and employee associated with law and order is accountable to the public. Negligence, indiscipline, or insensitivity in public service will not be accepted at any cost. Improving the police system, ensuring transparency, and promoting accountability are our top priorities. The government will not hesitate to take the strictest possible action in the public interest,” said CM Dhami.
