Under the central government’s AgriStack scheme, efforts have been intensified in the state to create a Farmer Registry by generating digital IDs for farmers. As part of this initiative, training was provided to officers and employees of the Revenue and Agriculture departments in Dehradun on Monday. It was explained that in the first phase of the scheme, the Farmer Registry will be prepared for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, so that the payment of the next installment of the scheme is not affected.

The training program, held at Hotel Pearl Avenue on Ring Road, was inaugurated by Revenue Secretary Dr. S.N. Pandey with the lighting of a lamp. On this occasion, AgriStack representatives Chinmay Mehta and Harshad Patel shed light on various aspects of the Farmer Registry. They said that the central government has launched the Farmer Registry to directly connect all farmers with government schemes and to provide them with a digital identity.

Farmers will receive a unique digital identity after registration

They explained that the Farmer Registry is a database where farmers can register and obtain their digital identity. After registration, the farmer will receive a unique digital identity, which will be called a Farmer ID. This 11-digit ID will be generated after the completion of e-KYC and field verification. The Farmer Registry will facilitate the transparent and timely delivery of benefits to farmers under various government schemes.

They added that after obtaining accurate information about farmers through the Farmer Registry, the government will be assisted in planning and formulating government policies. It will also help in providing farmers with disaster relief, agricultural subsidies, crop loans, and various insurance schemes, as well as in monitoring agricultural schemes and farmer welfare programs at various levels.

With the cooperation of the central government team, the Farmer Registry has been prepared for 128 farmers on a trial basis. The training explained that now employees of the Revenue and Agriculture departments across the state will carry out this work.

In this process, personnel from the Agriculture Department will act as registration officers, and officers from the Revenue Department will be responsible for verification and approval. Besides the Commissioner and Secretary of the Revenue Council, Ranjana Rajguru, the program was attended by ADMs, SDMs, Tehsildars, and Chief Agriculture Officers from all the districts of Garhwal division.
