Former Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) VR Chaudhari said on Tuesday that during ‘Operation Sindoor,’ when Pakistan attacked Indian defense establishments, the Indian Air Force retaliated strongly, targeting its most crucial military bases. Chaudhari said that due to the Indian armed forces’ decisive counter-attack, Pakistan finally surrendered after the four-day military conflict in May.
He said that the Indian government took a very bold decision to attack inside Pakistani territory to destroy terrorist camps in response to the Pahalgam attack in April. Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Chaudhari was speaking at an event organized at IIT Bombay, which was also attended by former Navy Chief R Hari Kumar and former Army Chief Manoj Pande. He said that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was the result of a daring plan by joint teams of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Attacks on 9 terrorist camps in PoK
The former Air Force chief said that on May 7, India attacked nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), two of which—Bahawalpur and Muridke—were primarily targeted by the Indian Air Force. The former Air Force chief said that this was the first time India had gone so deep and struck with such precision.
He said that they expected some kind of retaliation. The Pakistanis responded by launching drone and missile attacks on our military bases and civilian targets. They also targeted some hospitals in Udhampur.
We shot down every drone and missile fired at India
However, Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Chaudhari said that India’s integrated air defense system successfully thwarted all these attacks. He said that they shot down every drone and missile fired at India. There was no damage in our country. The situation was getting a little out of control when they were targeting our bases. When they were attacking our positions, we had to retaliate and attack their bases from where their planes and drones were taking off.
