Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken serious note of the grave incident of a farmer from Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district committing suicide in Haldwani. He has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. Following the CM’s instructions, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat will conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the entire incident so that all the facts and circumstances related to the event can be clearly brought to light.

CM Dhami has clearly stated that this incident is extremely tragic and serious and will not be taken lightly under any circumstances. He has directed the investigating officers to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire matter and to ensure strict action is taken against anyone found to be negligent, under pressure, or involved in any wrongdoing.

CM Dhami also sought detailed information about the incident from Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan and Director General of Police Deepam Seth. He also instructed that there should be no laxity in the investigation process. He directed the administration to provide all possible assistance to the victim’s family. Currently, the administration and police are investigating the entire matter.

Before committing suicide, the farmer had made a video and uploaded it on social media. In it, he made serious allegations against a property dealer and police officers of Udham Singh Nagar. The farmer accused the officers and staff of the ITI police station, among others, of harassment.

Godiyal criticizes the government over the farmer’s suicide case: Sukhwant Singh, a farmer from Kashipur, committed suicide due to distress over financial fraud. Following this incident, the Congress party has raised questions about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Congress state president Ganesh Godiyal released a video stating that the state’s law and order situation has completely collapsed, but the government is not taking it seriously.

He said that a farmer, Sukhwant Singh, committed suicide due to distress caused by fraud. The reasons behind this incident are deeply disturbing. For the past two or three years, it has been said that the situation in Uttarakhand is going from bad to worse. This is a living example of that. This incident is certainly a stain on the BJP government.

Ganesh Godiyal said that Sukhwant, distressed after being financially defrauded, revealed that he had been cheated out of Rs. 4 crore. When he approached the police to file a complaint about this fraud, he repeatedly faced disappointment, and no action was taken on his complaint. He was called to the police station numerous times and harassed.

Godiyal said that in the video, Sukhwant also alleged that the police were helping the other party. This completely broke him, and in this despair, he took his own life. He said that if any officer is involved in such acts, it is extremely shameful.

Karan Mahara raises questions on law and order: Meanwhile, Congress leader Karan Mahara expressed grief and concern over the suicide of farmer Sukhwant Singh. He said that in the Chief Minister’s home district, a farmer fought to protect his land in search of justice, but instead of relief from the administration and police, he received humiliation, harassment, and abuse. This raises a serious question mark on the democratic system of governance.

Mahara questioned the law and order situation in the state, saying that the primary objective of the police is to ensure the safety of the public and to take action on complaints and ensure justice. However, today, under the protection of the government, these institutions have become completely insensitive. He demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident, adequate compensation for the victim’s family, and immediate action against the guilty officers.
