The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) implemented in Uttarakhand has completed one year, and during this period, the system has emerged as a successful example of technological excellence. All services of the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code are now available in English as well as all 22 languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Applicants can also understand the entire UCC process and register themselves with the help of AI.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had given clear instructions to officials even before the implementation of the UCC that the registration process should be made as simple as possible and the website should be completely user-friendly, so that ordinary citizens can apply themselves without any assistance.
In line with CM Dhami’s instructions, ITDA (Information Technology Development Agency) has developed the official UCC website in English along with the 22 scheduled languages included in the Eighth Schedule: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Sindhi, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Santhali, and Manipuri.
Through this multilingual system, applicants can obtain information about the rules, procedures, and required documents related to the UCC in their preferred language, and can also apply in the same language. The AI-based assistance system is providing real-time guidance to applicants, making the registration process even easier.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “Our government has been working on the principle of ‘simplification for solutions’ from day one. In the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, it was ensured that the general public does not face any difficulties. The UCC has today become a successful model of technological excellence. This is why not a single complaint has been received regarding the UCC process in the past year.”
