Diesel became cheaper after three months, but petrol inflation continues
Petrol prices once again rose to a new record level today, while diesel became cheaper after almost three months. Earlier on Sunday there was no change in the prices. Petrol price has crossed Rs 101 per liter in Delhi and Rs 107 per liter in Mumbai for the first time after Monday’s hike. According to leading oil marketing company Indian Oil Corporation, the price of petrol in Delhi increased by 28 paise to Rs 101.19 per liter. Diesel became cheaper by 16 paise to Rs 89.72 per liter for the first time since April 15. During the West Bengal elections, on April 15, the prices of petrol and diesel were reduced for the last time in the country. After this, the price either increased or remained stable for 87 days. Today, on the 88th day, diesel has become cheaper while the price of petrol continues.
Petrol was costlier by Rs 8.41 and diesel by Rs 8.45 in May and June in Delhi. So far in July, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 2.38 and that of diesel by 56 paise per liter. In Mumbai, petrol became costlier by 27 paise to Rs 107.20 and diesel by 17 paise to Rs 97.29 per liter. In Chennai, petrol became costlier by 25 paise and diesel by 15 paise. There the price of one liter of petrol was Rs 101.92 and that of diesel was Rs 94.24. Petrol price in Kolkata increased by 34 paise to Rs 101.35. Diesel price fell by 16 paise to Rs 92.81 per litre.
Petrol and diesel prices are reviewed daily and based on that new prices are implemented every day from 6 am.
